Our fieldwork with the lizard malaria parasite Plasmodium mexicanum takes place at the University of California’s Hopland Research and Extension Center (HREC) in Hopland, California, located about 2 hours north of San Francisco. The Schall lab has been conducting research on this parasite-host system at this site since 1978. In fact, our research was featured in a blog post post on the HREC website commemorating 34 years of research on P. mexicanum! More pictures and a detailed description of the field station can be found on the Field Sites page of the Schall lab website.
