I am Dr. Rowland (Rowly) Brucken, an Associate Professor of History. My areas of scholarship include the history of international human rights law, American foreign policy, and 20th Century American history. I teach undergraduate courses on diplomacy, civil rights, general American history, and nation-building. In the Master’s of Diplomacy Program, I have designed and teach a seminar entitled “Human Rights and Conflict.”
In my spare time, I practice long-distance running, watch baseball games (Go, Cleveland!), volunteer in my community of Northfield, and raise a family that includes my wife Lisa (a fellow Norwich employee and Master’s of Military History student) and daughters Katherine (10), Grace (10), and Caroline (3).
I truly enjoy speaking to prospective students, whether they are considering Norwich in general for their college degree or are specifically interested in the History Program. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
