Introduction to Environmental Engineering

This class is designed as an introductory course in Environmental Engineering. It will cover the wide gamut of environmental engineering areas encompassing air, water, waste, noise, radiation all based on sustainable engineering approaches.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Vermont Campus Compact (VCC) and my summer 2012 Curriculum Development Fellowship from Norwich University, this course will offer a service learning curriculum. Students will work on 6 week long projects within the community and learn hands on environmental engineering.

The lab for this course will include analytic, gravimetric, and modeling experiments, including wet chemistry approaches for water analyses, field sampling at Sunset Lake and Dog River, air and noise pollution measurements, metals and volatile chemical analyses, environmental modeling and Geographical Information System (GIS).
