HN 101 Introduction to Sustainability

This course will explore sustainability through the lens of students enrolled in the course and their major disciplines; i.e. the course will be truly multi-disciplinary as it will unravel the concept of sustainability through art and architecture (through virtual visits to museums with sustainably created art and structures), science (looking at the science behind global issues such as climate change) mathematics (basic calculations on mass balances and budgets), history (tracing the history of the sustainability movement), laws and politics (looking at how various countries address sustainability), literature (reading and critiquing writings in and on sustainability), business (how sustainability affects the bottom line) and society (people and social justice issues), infrastructure and engineering (to live and move sustainably), all in the context of sustainability – and its myriad applications in various disciplines.
